Cody's Motorist Experience in Wichita.
"No one's life is worth 5 extra miles of speed or one more text with a perfectly placed emoji."
Like most of you, I have driven a vehicle most of my life. Everything from a golf cart to a semi, but only later in life started to cycle within the city. It entirely changed the way I drive.
I live in midtown and have ridden a bike east and west on Murdock to get to and from work and to the Red Bud Trail. People zoom through here at ridiculous speeds, especially under the interstate, and every time I see a cyclist here, I slow down and give them about 20 feet of space. I'll stay here and give them an escort until I have to go my way. Knowing people generally don't pass cyclists safely or cut them off, this is the least I can do for a person using their right to the road.
As motorists, we have the privilege to drive a vehicle, but not exclusive rights to the road, and this keeps me looking for people in every direction, seeing that they matter, and trying to save lives.."
